Micachu and the Shapes – “Low Dog” + “You Know” [Music Video]

Recently, the heavily experimental band Micachu and the Shapes released their newest album, Never. The album is weird, trippy, and a bit creepy. It sounds like a musical plane crash at times, but at points it sounds like the work of a mad genius. So to save you the pain of reading a long-winded album review, I’ve spotlighted two songs for you: “Low Dogg” and “You Know.”
“Low Dogg,” the darker of the tracks, never ceases to sound cool. This track is a re-imaging of the original (that improves on all aspects, in my opinion). The rhythm seems basic, but it’s complicated by the use of different sounds. The vocals on the track are eerie but add to the overall quality. ”Low Dogg” definitely warrants a listen. The video is cool as well, and worth checking out.

“You Know,” the more upbeat of the tracks, is like a carnival; fun on the outside, weird on the inside. The track starts off with a basic rhythm that causes a seemingly perpetual head movement that is supported by the inclusion of an 8-bit-esque melody. Towards the end of the short track, things get weird. The pleasant merry-go-round you were riding spins out of control.
