Mesita – “Everything is Burning”

“Everything is Burning,” the 10th track on Mesita‘s latest album, The Coyote, has placed me on cloud nine. Listening to the track forces me to split my lips, smile in googly ecstasy and reminisce about all the joyous things in my life. The song starts off with strong lyrics of distraught destruction, but progressively becomes something more hopeful. Although there is only a brief period, relative to the length of the song, where a set of lyrics are sung, it doesn’t take away from the overall strength of the track. The beat starts off with a pop-synth melody that accompanies the brief, powerful lyricism, however, it swiftly transforms into something more upbeat and jangly that perfectly complements the sunny day/ bright future theme of the track. This last stretch of the track is composed of a head bobbing drum spat and a beautiful guitar solo, which add only more to the concept of rebuilding referenced throughout the song. The whole track works from a sonic standpoint to try and validate that old, hackneyed expression: “there’s always sunshine after the rain.”

When I am in a bad mood, I will forever look to this track for comfort. You can check out Mesita’s new album, The Coyote, in the jump below, accompanied by a link to his Facebook and Twitter pages.
