Two Members of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Announce Departure

Earlier this week, guitarist and keyboardist Robbie Guertin, of the Indie-Rock band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, announced he would be leaving the band after their free concert at New York’s CBGB Festival.

Guertin said in an email that he has “decided to move on and see what’s next.”  He plans to continue his career with his other band, Radical Dads, in which he plays drums and sings. He also added that he wishes to “pursue miscellaneous artistic endeavours, and also grow some vegetables… maybe some tomatoes?” The remainder of the e-mail, which is extremely appreciative and flattering of the band and all they have done for him, can be viewed below.

Meanwhile, today bassist Tyler Sargent has also announced he will be leaving the band after the show. Sargent posted on the band’s website: “I am very proud of what this band has accomplished over the past eight years.” He went on to add that he is currently “in the process of forming a presidential exploratory committee for 2016.” The entire note can also be read below.

The future of the band is currently unclear. We can only hope that they will continue to make music with the rest of the band’s line up. If not, we can remain satisfied with their expansive catalog, which consists of three studio albums and a live album.
