The Dean’s List – “Hollywood” (Ft. Dani Ummel)

Boston’s very own, The Dean’s List, are back once again with another track from their upcoming album Generation X. Nearly a month ago, we covered the album’s first single, “Youth,” but today we’re presenting y’all with the album’s second early release: “Youth.” Rapped over a murky grit, group member Sonny Shotz uses his sarcastic squawk to cut a path through a smoky room– all while socializing and buying drinks for people as he passes by. Along the way, he bumps into fellow Boston dweller/crooner Dani Ummel, whose airy vocals will crash upon you like a wave does the shoreline. She’ll pull you onto the dance floor with her voice and leave you dancing with a shadow. Her voice is as mysterious as the instrumentation is gorged with synth reverberations. “Hollywood” is the sort of piece that’ll eviscerate you. It’s the sort of song that’ll make you feel as lonely and bereft of love as a night on the Sunset Strip. If “Hollywood” is what we’re to expect from Generation X, dropping April 3rd, then we can count on it being one hell of an album. In the meantime, download “Hollywood” from iTunes here. Enjoy!
