Animal Kingdom – “Strange Attractor”
Animal Kingdom is an Indie Rock group from South London. Their debut album, Signs and Wonders, was released on September 25th, 2009. The group has not released another full length album since then. However, on January 31, 2012, they released the single “Strange Attractor.”
The song is very well crafted. It begins with piano and vocals, then adds in a guitar and the kick of a bass drum. The guitar begins to vamp up, high-hat hits are added to the drums, and the song builds. Just as it begins to build, it drops back down to the tame guitar and kick, only to build in intensity again. Then, suddenly, there is an electronic break, a very welcome surprise that adds a unique flair to the song. The song ends back on the same vocal part and piano with which it began, giving the song a satisfying cyclical feel. The song wavers between quiet background music and full-on rock ‘n roll, and does it brilliantly.
“Strange Attractor” is available for listen below, and available for purchase on iTunes for only $0.99.
