Andrew Belle – The Daylight [EP]

Andrew Belle is a singer-songwriter originally from Illinois, but he moved to Nashville in 2009. He has previously released one EP, one single, and one LP. His first EP debuted in 2008. His newest EP, The Daylight, was released on February 28, 2012. Belle’s songs have been heard on several hit television shows, including The Lying Game and One Tree Hill.

The Daylight is made up of 5 tracks, two of which are new. These tracks are “The Daylight” and “Sky’s Still Blue.” Both tracks are wonderfully soothing. “Sky’s Still Blue” has more forceful sounding instrumentation that propels the song forward while still paradoxically maintaining an gentle feeling. But in both tracks, Belle’s low, husky voice is practically mesmerizing.

The third track is an alternate version of “All Those Pretty Lights,” which originally appeared on his first EP. This version is slowed down, with a more spacey feel. The last two tracks are live recordings: “In My Veins,” a single from 2010, and “The Ladder,” from Belle’s LP. Belle performs just as well live as in studio recordings, proving his merit as a musician.

Some fans may be disappointed that the 5-track EP only contains two new songs, but those songs are fantastic, as are the new versions of pre-existing songs. The EP is available on iTunes for $4.99.
